Demogames Trainings

Das Demogames-Konsortium entwickelte ein Modellcurriculum, um Jugendarbeitende und andere interessierte Praktiker:innen mit der Democracy Game Box vertraut zu machen, hilfreiche Hintergrundinformationen über Demokratie und Demokratiebildung zu vermitteln und Trainer:innen für die Durchführung von spielbasierten Lerneinheiten zu schulen. Der viertägige Workshop wurde im Frühjahr 2022 mit fast 40 Teilnehmern in Timisoara (Rumänien) getestet und evaluiert.
Auf dieser Website stellen wir das Modellprogramm für einen viertägigen Workshop zur Verfügung und veröffentlichen aktuelle Trainings- und Lehrveranstaltungen, welche die Demogames-Outputs nutzen, als Best Practice Beispiele.

The Department of Political Science at Radboud University conducted a Demogames workshop during the Teacher Day 2023. This two-hour workshop centered on introducing Demogames to social science teachers in formal education in The Netherlands. The training included a practical session on the games Demodice and Observers, in both their analog and digital versions. The training also introduced participants to the Demogames outputs and allowed participants to reflect on the process and potential ways to incorporate Demogames in their teaching. The Department of Political Science at Radboud University is also funding the translation of Demogames materials into Dutch.

The University of Erfurt conducted a block seminar as part of its General Studies that used Demogames’ Democracy Game Box and Facilitator’s Manual to introduce undergraduate students to concepts of non-formal education and game-based learning. The seminar as well included a public event in the city of Altenburg in which the course’s participants used the Demogames Deckmocracy, Demodice, Fake Expert and Observers to promote and discuss Human Rights and democratic values with the public.

Demogames partner organisation Demokrative launched in Switzerland the project Democracy multiplied. In this project, seven young education practitioners and university students have been trained to conduct game-based workshops with young people. The training has been based on the Demogames training curriculum, but adapted to project circumstances: The first training step focused on two games and provided ready-to use session plans. In the future, in regular intervals, the multipliers will participate in trainings to reflect their experiences and acquire the competences to use more different games and methods.
